With over 20 years of experience in both the private sector and state government, Richard is an expert in making work environments safer for people to do their job. He is authorized by the OSHA Institute as an Outreach Instructor in both construction and general industry standards, is proficient in the safe operation of more than 9 pieces of heavy equipment, and is a highly trained first responder with proven skills in emergency response. He spent 15 years as a fire fighter for towns in midcoast Maine and 16 years as an advanced medical provider with three different ambulance services, acting quickly to get people the urgent care they needed. Richard’s success as an instructor is built upon his own experience as a construction crew member and supervisor. After 21 years of hands-on experience, Richard’s adept teaching style earned him the role of Occupational Safety Specialist for the Maine State Department of Transportation. There, he trains hundreds of employees a year across the state on safe practices.
